Privacy Policy

Your details, and what we do with them

We collect only what's needed to take your order and get it to you. We don't sell your details and we don't follow you around the internet. If a line here is unclear, email us and we'll explain it.

Card details stay with our provider

We're never given your full card number, expiry or security code.

Never sold, never swapped

Your details go to our payment provider and your courier — and nowhere else.

Ask us for your data

See it, correct it or have it removed — one email, no charge.

1. Who we are and what this covers

  • Ruthef runs this website and takes your orders. This policy explains what we do with your personal details when you browse, order or email us.
  • It covers this website only. If you reach another company's site from a link here, their policy applies to what happens on their pages.
  • We keep this short and written to be understood. If anything here is unclear, email us and we'll explain it plainly.

2. What we collect

  • When you order: your name, delivery address, email address and the pieces you bought.
  • When you pay: your card is handled by our payment provider. We receive confirmation that the payment succeeded — we never see or store your full card number, expiry date or security code.
  • When you email us: the message you send and any photos you attach, so we can answer you.
  • Automatically: basic technical information such as the pages viewed and the type of device used, so we can see what's working and what isn't.

3. How we use it

  • To take your order, pack it, deliver it and tell you when it's on its way.
  • To answer your questions, handle a return or replace a faulty piece.
  • To keep accurate accounts, which UK law requires us to do.
  • To keep the site working and improve it. We don't build a profile of you to target you with advertising.

4. Your bag and your browser

  • The pieces in your bag are saved in your own browser, so they're still there if you close the tab and come back. It stays on your device — it isn't a way of following you around the internet.
  • Clearing your browser's saved data empties your bag. That's your choice to make, and it doesn't affect any order you've already placed.
  • You can browse and read the whole site without giving us anything at all. We only collect details when you order or write to us.

5. Who we share your details with

  • Our payment provider, so your card can be authorised securely.
  • The delivery company carrying your parcel, so they get your name, address and the contact details they need for the delivery.
  • Nobody else. We do not sell, rent or swap your personal details with advertising networks or any other business.
  • If we're ever legally required to hand over information — for example by a court — we'd tell you first unless we're forbidden from doing so.

6. How long we keep things

  • Order and payment records are kept while UK tax and accounting rules require them, which is normally six years from the end of the trading year.
  • Emails between us are kept while your matter is open, and after that only where there's a good reason, such as an unresolved query.
  • When there's no reason left to keep something, we delete it.

7. How we protect your details

  • This website is served over a secure, encrypted connection, so details travel protected rather than in the open.
  • Card information stays inside our payment provider's secure systems, which reduces what we hold to a minimum.
  • Access to order information is limited to the people who need it to pack, deliver or answer you.

8. Your choices and rights

  • You can ask to see what we hold about you, ask us to correct anything wrong, or ask us to delete it.
  • You can ask us to stop using your details, or to hand them to you in a usable format.
  • You can ask us not to contact you; if you've ordered from us we'll still need to email you about that order.
  • Any of these takes one email to us and we'll act on it without charging you.

9. Children

  • You must be 18 or over to place an order, so we don't set out to collect children's details. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we'll remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

  • We may update this policy as the business grows or the law changes. The dated version published here is the one that applies when you order.
  • If a change materially affects how we use your details, we'll say so on this page and, where we can, contact you directly.

11. If you're unhappy

  • Tell us first — most things can be settled with one email.
  • You also have the right to raise a concern with the UK's information rights regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
